As a community of faith, we respectfully acknowledge that we gather on the traditional lands of the Cree, Anishinaabe, Lakota, Dakota, Nakota and Metis people – Treaty 4 territory. We welcome and celebrate human diversity – including spirituality, age, ability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and sexual orientation.

We acknowledge the violence and pain perpetrated by the colonization of so called Canada including the institution of Residential Schools and the United Church’s involvement in that pain and suffering

We acknowledge the systems of oppression that exist to this day and know that there is much work to be done. As the United Church we apologize for our broken relationship, and pledge to heal it through intention, deep listening and bold action.

We declare our commitment to be in solidarity with the poor and marginalized.

In our midst people of any faith can question and discover the sacred in life through openness, struggle, laughter and prayer.

Knox-Metropolitan United Church is an Affirming Ministry and part of Affirm United/S’Affirmer Ensemble.
