We Sing ThanksgivingKnox-Metropolitan United Church Stewardship Invitation 2017 – Over the course of the 5 Sundays in October, we will hear speakers share about what being part of this community has meant to them. We will consider our ministry and mission, the financial realities facing us as a community, and how we can each partner together whether with our time, our talents, and our treasurers. We are called to be the church and we Sing Thanksgiving.

The Board of Knox-Met has established a new committee to deal with refugee co-sponsorships in the future. The committee will be responsible for the interviewing of potential cosponsors, assessing the financial and volunteer commitment required, completing documentation and record keeping, maintaining contact with the refugees and the local cosponsors, the arrival and settlement of the refugees, and assisting with Canadian bureaucracies. The committee will report to the Board. The committee will hold their first meeting on Tuesday, October 10 at 5:00 PM in the Chapel. If you are interested, please attend this meeting or contact Bob Ivanochko, Chair at 306-757-5939 or bob.ivanochko@sasktel.net

Affirming Ministries @ Knox-Metropolitan United Church:

The Affirming Ministries Group will meet in Cam’s Office on Sunday, October 15, about 10-15 minutes following the service. Anyone who would like to join this meeting is welcome. The meeting will be to explore the responses to the Affirming Ministries survey which was circulated over the summer and to begin the creation of an Affirming Ministries information handout for the congregation. If you’ve not yet filled in the survey you can find paper copies in the Lower Hall on Sundays and in the Office throughout the week – a link to the online option can be found from our Facebook Page @KnoxMetRegina.  You can contact the Affirming Ministries Steering Group by email – affirming@knoxmetregina.org

Sign-up Sundays:  During the month of October various Ministries will have sign-up sheets available for volunteers (reading, coffee, etc).  Visit the tables and chat about the things you can do!  Another expression of Stewardship.

Fellowship Hour Coffee:  Each Sunday during the month of October, we will have a basket to accept donations.  The monies collected will help with the costs of supplies for each week Fellowship Hour.  Thanking you in advance  for your donation.

Flea Market:  A very big thank you to everyone who helped with this year’s Flea Market. A total of $5,200.80 was raised for the church. All unsold items were donated to the Indian and Metis Christian Fellowship.

Bake Sale at Flea Market: Many, many thanks to all those who donated baking to the bake table.  We had a great display and variety of items.  Everything sold and we made $400!  Best result yet!  MANY THANKS.

Do you live in the Downtown Neighbourhood?  Albert  to Broad, College to Saskatchewan Drive?  Cam has been speaking with the City of Regina about how the church might help revitalize a Community Association within the downtown, and he would love to hear from people who live in this neighbourhood.  Let Cam know if you might be interested in such a discussion!
