Looking at Our Long-term Financial and Demographic Trends: Presentation & Information Session with the EDGE Network – Everyone is invited to attend a very special presentation and information session after worship on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 12-1:30pm. We will be joined by Rob Dalgleish, Executive Director of the United Church of Canada’s EDGE Network, which works with Congregations, Presbyteries and other Ministries within the United Church, to discern sustainable, creative, and fulfilling paths, partnership and potentials for future ministry. This session will include a look at the long-term financial and demographic trends of Knox-Metropolitan United Church and also a presentation from Rob on what other churches facing similar situations have done across the country. This is not a decision making meeting. There will be other opportunities in the coming months to respond to and engage with the ideas presented about the future directions for KMUC. This is an exciting and important moment in the life of this community. Please plan to attend. Pack a sandwich for lunch – some fruit & veggie trays will be provided by the church – and we promise to wrap up the schedule –  well in time for the Grey Cup.

Exploring Indigenous Spirituality – A TRC Learning Opportunity – Come join us as we seek to learn more about Indigenous Spirituality – a response to Call to Action #60 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. We are humbled to be joined by Elder Lorna Standingready, former Lead Elder for All Native Circle Conference of the United Church of Canada, who will be guiding our time together. We will be using the Resource Quest for Respect: The Church and Indigenous Spirituality. Copies are available from Cam or the Office. Sessions have been moved to Tuesdays from 7 to 9 pmNovember  21, & 28 in the Sanctuary.

Theology on Tuesdays Explores “The Re-Birthing of God” by John Philip Newell – Following on our Discussions of ‘The Divine Dance’ by Richard Rohr, the next editions of Theology on Tuesdays will take place on Tuesdays, November 21, 28 @ 10 am in Cam’s Office. Join us for coffee, and (hopefully) transformative conversations around an intriguing book – a perfect pre-Advent reading project! We will have a few copies available for loan, and you can purchase your own from Amazon or Indigo.

Christmas for Shut-ins and Friends: As in past years we will be taking the Little Christmas trees and cards to those who cannot be with us over the Christmas season, and giving gifts of coffee cards to some friends to warmly cheer them at this time. We will be receiving donations during coffee time today and on November 26. If you are able to help deliver the gifts to our friends, there will be a chance to sign up for this on the same days. We do thank you for your help.

We will be welcoming New Members, whether by Transfer from another United Church Congregation or through a Re-Affirmation of Faith, on Sunday, November 26, 2017. If you are interested in this opportunity, please speak to Cam. There will be a very brief gathering today after worship for those interested to meet with Cam and Carol Schick (Chair of the Board) to discuss Membership, the United Church of Canada and our goals and dreams here at Knox-Met.

Spirituality & Parenting – A Christmas Discussion – It’s a season of wonder…It’s also a season of stuff, stress, and sometimes balancing expectations from so many angles one’s head can spin! This is our second discussion in our Spirituality & Parenting Series, and this time we’re taking on Christmas & the Winter Holiday Season. So, whether we celebrate another holiday during this time of year, whether you’ve been seeking to find the light behind the celebration, you are welcome to come & bring your thoughts! We’ll discuss rituals, stories, traditions, gifts and much more! There will be tea & coffee and child-care provided, feel free to bring a snack to share if able, and as always, please bring an open mind and a commitment to neither convince/convert or fix one another. RSVP (& invite others) on our Facebook Event.
