Are you looking for a special Christmas gift? Why not a beautiful picture of the church? We have available for purchase limited edition prints of Knox- Metropolitan United Church by Yvonne Kidd, a renowned local artist. Each print is numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity. This picture was a special commission from our church. These unframed prints will be on sale for $30.00 during coffee time or you can contact Kate Johnson at 306-584-0480.

Have you  returned your 2018 Stewardship Information and Pledge Cards to the office??  If you did not receive one but wish to be added to our list, extra copies are available from the church office.

2018 United Church calendars now available for purchase through the Christian Education Ministry.  Limited numbers so get your order in soon. Contact Marlene Hall at 789-3905. Cost is $5.00 each.

Today is the last day for donations towards the Christmas trees for “Shut-ins”. These will be prepared on Tuesday morning, December 5th, ready to be picked up after 10:30 am. Thanks to all who have volunteered to deliver them to our friends. If you want to donate, or offer to deliver, please see Elizabeth Calam during coffee today.

Thank you to all who helped as we prepared, and held, a very successful and fun pre-Christmas dinner last Saturday evening: Gary Seib, Barbara Shourounis, Marianne Rever, Bonita Dolmage, and Joan Baliko. We also thank Garth Solar for the  music as we gathered, and Paul Clarke, Carol Schick, Kate Johnson, Barbara Shourounis and George Grassick who entertained with songs and poetry after dinner. A lovely start to the Christmas season!

We also want to thank all who have helped to decorate the sanctuary and lower hall for Christmas: Stewart and Gilda Graham (who each year lean over the balcony to hang the garlands), Rita Jolly-Mayes (who works magic with the lower hall tree), and Deanna Zak, Barbara Shourounis, Norm and Ethia Brown, Keith Rever, Ralph Smith, Evelyn Gay, David and Elizabeth Calam for the sanctuary trees, windows and narthex.. It takes a team to prepare!

Congratulations to Dr. Susan Shaw (daughter of Elizabeth and David Calam) on her appointment as Chief Medical Officer of the new Saskatchewan Health Authority.

Service of Remembrance – Our Annual Service of Remembrance for members, family and friends of Knox-Metropolitan who have died, will be held on Friday, December 22 at 5:00 pm in the Sanctuary.  Please call the church office (306.525.9128) if you would like any names put forward.  Refreshments to follow.

 Halcyon Chamber Choir presents “A Halcyon Christmas” on Sunday December 3 at 7:30 pm here at Knox-Metropolitan. Hart Godden Artistic Director. The 77th Annual Rotary Carol Festival starts Monday December 4 to Thursday December 7, at 7:00 pm each evening,  here at Knox-Metropolitan.

Queen City Brass Band presents “Spread the Warmth” Concert on Friday, December 8 at 7:30 pm here at Knox-Metropolitan United Church.  (Chad Huel, Music Director with guest appearance by Sheldon-Williams Senior Concert Band…Samantha Taylor, Music Director).  Admission: Donation of new or gently used hats, mitts, toques, gloves and scarves. Christmas Candlelight Service – choirs, handbells & instrumental ensembles on Sunday, December 10, 2:00 to 7:00 pm. at Luther College High School (1500 Royal Street) in the Merlis Belsher Heritage Centre. Freewill offering.

 Per Sonatori presents “Angel Noel” here at Knox-Metropolitan United Church on Sunday, December 17 at 7:30 pm. The themes of Christmas are just as important now as they were 300 years ago.
